Team Approach to Care for Pregnancy and Delivery
Northwestern Medicine Faculty Obstetrics and Gynecology is a group practice. This means you may see different medical professionals throughout your pregnancy. Our physicians and advanced practice nurses will work together to provide you with excellent care.
What to Expect at Our Academic Medical Center
Northwestern Memorial Hospital is an academic medical center. This means that faculty physicians train new physicians and medical students at the hospital. For this reason, OB-GYN resident physicians and medical students will be part of your care team. Our role in educating the next generation of physicians means we are always using the latest evidence-based techniques.
As faculty in the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, we conduct and support medical research. We may ask you to take part in research studies. This is one way you can help shape the future of medicine for yourself and other people. We encourage you to participate in research if you can.

- During your pregnancy, an attending physician will supervise your care.
- On the day you give birth, the physician on call will care for you through labor and delivery.
- If your attending physician is not the physician on call, they will not be the person who delivers your baby.
